Million paper clips. Our Gimml,
Dalet
and Hey classes watched the movie “Paper Clips” to commemorate Yom Hashoa. We had a chronological walk through posters helping
to organize the events of the Holocaust. Our students grew through their
conversations and personal experiences as evidenced by their brief writing
reports. They asked if they could share their reports by reading them out loud
at the next Family Shabbat! Who am I to argue? So be sure to come to our next
Family Shabbat to share in our students’ pride.

The rooms are alive with the sound
of music. (Yes, I did that on purpose). Our students are learning and practicing
songs for Tu B'Shvat.

songsheet
and to hear the music.
The Bet class was invited down to
Temple Beth Torah in Melville to see "A Town That Fought Hate"; a puppet play
based on the book "The Christmas Menorahs" and presented by the Catskill Puppet
Theater. It was amazing. The set was a rotating puppet stage and the story
held our attention.

In the month of November the Bet
class will be participating in the second SAJES "Fourth Grade Jewish Read On!".
They will be reading the book "The Christmas Menorahs" by Janice Cohn and
participating in activities designed to deepen their understanding of bigotry
and how they can be empowered to make a difference in their world.

Pizza in the Hut was a little cold
but we still had a good time. We ran for cover when it started to rain and had
some pizza inside the shul. The Aleph and Bet classes
made hanging decorations and the Hey class made an Ushpizin plaque. Click here for all the Sukkot
pictures.
Simchat Torah was never so much fun! Children and adults danced and
sang with the Torahs. Click here to see our children's expression of joy in drawings.
